WAMCO triumphs VAM Cup for the fourth time in a row

Club WAMCO has been crowned champions of the Women's Volleyball Association (VAM) Cup for the fourth time in a row after clinching victory against Police Club in the final match with a score of 3-1.

Club WAMCO has been crowned champions of the Women's Volleyball Association (VAM) Cup for the fourth time in a row after clinching victory against Police Club in the final match with a score of 3-1.

The final match which was held at the Youth Center's indoor court last night saw WAMCO triumph the finals with a score set of 25-19, 25-23, 13-25 and 25-21. The best player of the match was awarded to WAMCO player, Aishath Majidha, who secured this prominent title for the third consecutive time.

While the Police's Libero, Maasa Faarooq was selected to be the most promising player of the tournament, WAMCO's coach, Ahmed Adheel (Beybe) was conferred the title of the best coach.

The dream team of the Association Cup includes WAMCO players, Majidha, Fathimath Joozan Zareer, Maya Hussain Solah and Faiha Mohamed alongside Police players, Hawwa Raashidha (Hawwa) and Mariyam Azuma in addition to Aminath Riyasha of the Volleyball Youth New Generation.

Both WAMCO and Police had advanced to the finals without facing defeat in a single match of the tournament. While WAMCO triumphed over Volleyball Youth New Generation in the semi-finals, Police had emerged the winner during their match with Association for Dharanboodhoo Development.

The match held yesterday to determine the third place winner of the VAM Cup saw Volleyball Youth New Generation clinch victory against Association for Dharanboodhoo Development.

While WAMCO had defended their victorious streak against Police Club all four times in the VAM Cup finals, this year marks the first instance where Police managed to steal a set from WAMCO. The previous two years, 2022 and 2023 had observed WAMCO triumph the finals after triumphing three straight sets without losing to Police once.

Meanwhile, the men's division of the VAM Cup is slated to begin their matches at the end of October.
