Speaker of Parliament Abdul Raheem Abdulla has decided that tomorrow's parliament sitting will be held as scheduled despite the President having declared tomorrow a government holiday so as to provide ease to citizens during the current stormy weather conditions.

Tomorrow's parliament sitting will commence at 09:00 hrs in the morning as it does on regular days.

Tomorrow's agenda includes firstly the posing of questions to Minister of Sports, Fitness and Recreation by Maldivian Democratic Party MP Mauroof Zakir. This will be followed by sending to a permanent committee the motion on dismissal of Prosecutor General Hussain Shameem. The last is the first hearing of the Urban Development Bill submitted by the government.

Debates in parliament tomorrow will be on the Foreign Investment Bill proposed by the government.

Today, parliament decided to postpone recess and extend parliamentary sittings by two weeks.

As per the regulations, the last day of this term is coming Thursday, after which parliament will reconvene in October.

However, Speaker Abdul Raheem announced today that there are many key works in progress in parliament at the moment, due to which recess has been postponed to August 26. This was passed unanimously through the votes of the 80 MPs in attendance today.
