Nasheed had attended the ceremony by the personal invitation of the Ambani family.
While photographs taken of Nasheed at the ceremony have been circulating on social media, no other Maldivian besides the former president had reportedly attended the lavish wedding ceremony. Nasheed has always maintained a strong connection with India and has consistently praised the age-old relations between the two countries.
Several international dignitaries had also flown to Mumbai to attend the star-studded ceremony besides Nasheed, including the former British Prime Ministers Tony Blair and Boris Johnson as well as former United States Secretary of State John Kerry.
The luxury wedding which wed the couple, Anant and Radhika Merchant was held at the wedding venue at Jio World Convention Centre, Mumbai. The lavish ceremony saw many famous faces from across the world in attendance, including world-renown Hollywood and Bollywood stars and members of royal families in addition to family and friends of the couple.
Although the Ambanis have not revealed how much was spent on the wedding, it was reportedly estimated to have cost nearly USD 600 million. Some medias describe this wedding as one of the grandest and most elaborate events in the world's history.
