President Muizzu said those who do not wish wealth for the public will become apparent soon.
Political leaders who do not have the best interest of the average citizen will be known in the future, said President Dr Mohamed Muizzu.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), President Muizzu said that political leaders who do not want to see members of the public who are not financially well off will become apparent in the coming days.
“This government will continue to be on the side of the people and provide justice and prosperity to everyone,” he said.
Although the President's post was not directly aimed at anyone, he said this at a time when some resort owners are expressing concern and refusing to comply with the new regulations mandating they exchange dollars via local banks.
Chairman of Universal Enterprises Mohamed Umar Manik (MU Manik), who operates eight resorts in Maldives, and his brother and one of the biggest businessmen in the country, owner of Champa Brothers, Mohamed Moosa (Uchhu) have requested the regulation be changed.
