Details of 20 MOUs signed between Maldives-China released

The President's Office has published details of the twenty agreements signed between Maldives and China today.

The memorandums of understanding (MOUs) were signed by senior government officials of both countries at a ceremony held this evening as part of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's ongoing state visit to China.

The details of the agreements reached are as follows;

1. MOU between the Maldives' National Disaster Management Authority and the Ministry of Emergency Management of China on cooperation in the Area of disaster risk reduction

2. MOU between Maldives' Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources and Ministry of Commerce of China on deepening Blue Economy cooperation

3. MOU between Maldives' Ministry of Homeland Security and Technology and Ministry of Commerce of China on strengthening investment cooperation in the digital economy

4. MOU between Maldives' Ministry of Economic Development and Trade and Ministry of Commerce of China on promoting investment cooperation in Green Development

5. MOU between Maldives' Ministry of Economic Development and Trade and National Development and Reform Commission of China on jointly accelerating the formulation of the cooperation plan on the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI)

6. MOU between Maldives' Ministry of Economic Development and Trade and National Data Administration of China on strengthening digital data economy cooperation

7. MOU between Maldives' Ministry of Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development and China International Development Cooperation Agency on human resource development cooperation

8. MOU between Maldives' Ministry of Economic Development and Trade and National Development Reform Commission of China on exchange and cooperation in the field of economic development policy

9. MOU between Maldives' Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Welfare and Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China on strengthening of agricultural cooperation

10. MOU between Maldives' Ministry of Climate Change, Environment and Energy and The National Development and Reform Commission of China on cooperation on Green and low carbon development

11. MOU between Maldives' Ministry of Construction and Infrastructure and China International Development Cooperation Agency on Fushidhiggarufalhu, expansion of Velana International Airport, fisheries product processing factories and Male' and VilliMale' Road Development projects

12. MOU between Maldives' Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources and Ministry of Natural Resources of China on marine cooperation towards Blue Partnership

13. MOU between Maldives' Ministry of Tourism and Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China on tourism cooperation

14. MOU between Maldives' Public Service Media and Xinhua News Agency of China on news cooperation

15. MOU between Maldives' Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Welfare and General Administration of Customs of China on technical cooperation of entry and exit animal and plant quarantine

16. Letter of Exchange on coconut tree pest control assistance project

17. Letter of Exchange on feasibility study on laboratory equipment for seventeen health facilities project

18. Action Plan between the Maldives and China governments for building a China-Maldives Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership (2024 to 2028)

19. Grant Assistance between the Maldives and China governments

20. Memorandum of Cooperation between Maldives' Public Service Media and China Media Group

The signing of the agreements were conducted at the Great Hall of People in Beijing today after the official welcome ceremony. Presiding over the signing were President Dr. Muizzu and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
