Police have said that they have recovered five laptops stolen from an office of the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) run in Farukolhufushi.
The laptops were stolen three days ago, and Police said they received reports of this on Sunday.
With media raising questions about this theft, Police earlier said that the person accused of having stolen these laptops is currently under arrest in a drug related case. They said then that the individual was cooperating with Police efforts to recover the laptops. About two hours after Police made this statement, Police announced that the five laptops had been recovered.
Police, however, did not provide any details of how or where the stolen laptops were found from.
A senior official of HDC previously said that the person responsible for the theft had been identified through CCTV footage.
Although rumours said that the laptops were those used by HDC's finance department, HDC has rejected these claims.
"However, as we got reports of an incident from the Projects Department, we have submitted a case to the Police," the official said then.
