Samples of some islanders have been taken in the investigation into the alleged murder of Naeema Moosa, who was found dead in Noonu atoll Manadhoo.

The police have not made any official comments on the case since Naeema was found murdered on April 7.

However, a source from the island said that fingerprints have been taken of people who usually enter Naeema's house. Police have also visited several houses on the island, interviewed residents, and asked them to share any suspicions.

When asked about the investigation, the police said they had no information yet to disclose to the media.

Naeema, who lived alone, was found dead in her home after she had been reported missing for two days. She was found with severe injuries to her body.

After the police took the samples required for the investigation, Naeema's body was buried on the island. A special police team is currently investigating the case. Upon the discovery of Naeema’s body, the island council banned unauthorised entry and exit from the island.

There is question among the residents about whether an islander could commit such an atrocity despite any misgivings they might have about the deceased. Therefore, there is also speculation that the alleged murder is linked to foreigners living in Manadhoo. These rumours remain unsubstantiated. No one has been identified as a suspect in the case so far either.
