The graduation ceremony present certification for those who completed their memorization from July last year up until this month.
President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has presented gowns and certificates to 22 individuals who have fully memorized the Quran and obtained the Hafiz certificate.
The graduation ceremony, held for the first time in Maldives, recognized those who completed their memorization from July last year up until this month.
Islamic Minister Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed stated that 250 individuals have received Hafiz certification so far, with the government aiming to increase the number to 1,000 within the next five years.
A special gown was designed for the graduates, featuring blue and gold colors and inspired by Male' Friday Mosque, symbolizing the Islamic history and culture of Maldives, the ministry said.
Graduates will also receive a unique taqiyah (skullcap) which can be worn regularly, including at religious gatherings and Quran recitations. The graduates will also be able to keep their graduation gowns.
