The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has declared that Eid prayers will be conducted in large congregations in multiple locations for Eid-ul-Fitr this year in the Malé area.
As per the Ministry's announcement, mass Eid prayers will take place in congregations across Malé, Villimalé, and Hulhumalé. These large congregational prayers are scheduled to be held at six different locations within the Greater Malé Region.
The locations are:
1. Maafannu Stadium in Malé. 2. Football ground in Villimalé. 3. Synthetic track of Hulhumalé Phase 1. 4. Cricket Stadium in Hulhumalé Phase 2. 5. Islamic Centre and its area. 6. King Salman Mosque and its premises.
The ministry has also announced plans to enlist individuals capable of cooking and preparing tea for those involved in organizing the Eid prayers in large congregations, as well as finding someone to manage sound systems at these locations.
The ministry consistently recommends performing ablution (Wudu) at home, bringing personal water bottles, and carrying individual prayer mats.
Discussions are underway at the Ministry of Islamic Affairs to advance the timing of this year's Eid prayer to 7 a.m.
Eid-ul-Fitr is scheduled for April 10 as per the calendar.
