The newly appointed Maldivian Ambassador to Singapore Dr Abdulla Mausoom presented his letter of credence to the President of Singapore Halimah Yacob on Wednesday.

Following the ceremony held at Istana', the Office of the President, President Halimah and Ambassador Mausoom exchanged greetings and discussed the close diplomatic relationship between Maldives and Singapore.

During the brief meeting, the Singaporean President expressed confidence that Ambassador Mausoom would work to reinforce the close ties during his tenure.

In response, Ambassador Mausoom assured his commitment to further strengthening existing bilateral relations between Singapore and Maldives, which commenced on February 20, 1975.

The newly appointed Ambassador also conveyed felicitations from Maldivian President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and other high ranking officials to President Halimah and the citizens of Singapore.

Ambassador Mausoom was accompanied by his spouse Zeenaz Fahmee, Deputy Ambassador Eman Hussain, and Second Secretary at the Embassy of Maldives in Singapore Aminath Guraisha.

President Solih appointed Dr Abdulla Mausoom as the Ambassador of Maldives to Singapore on February 18, 2019.
