Kyrgyzstan took home the CAVA championship title, while Maldives came in fourth place.
Kyrgyzstan took home the champion title of the CAVA under 20 volleyball tournament held in Malé, with Maldives trailing behind at fourth place after losing to Nepal.
Kyrgyzstan won the championship with all three sets after facing off against Sri Lanka last night at the indoor court of Malé Youth Centre. Kyrgyzstan's secured the sets with a score of 28-26, 25-14, and 25-19.
Maldives played off against Nepal in the match to determine third place of the competition and lost all three sets at 15-25, 10-25 and 14-25.
Maldives, during the championship, lost all sets of the tournament in the first three league matches as well as the semi final match. Maldives lost to Sri Lanka in the semi final match with 9-25, 8-25, and 7-25 points.
In the group stage, Nepal won against Maldives with 16-25, 9-25 and 10-25 points. Kyrgyzstan scored and won with 25-11, 25-11 and 25-17 points while Sri Lanka won over Maldives with a score of 25-8, 25-9 and 25-16.
Maldives' coach Fathuhulla Waheed (Fallo) said that Maldives was the youngest team to play in the tournament this year, with an average age of 17. The most senior player in the team is Maya Hussain Solah, who has been in the senior squad since last year.
