Maldives Police Service confiscated smuggled alcoholic beverages from a van traveling to Hulhumale’. The authorities have since arrested a Bangladeshi expatriate as a suspect in the case.
Videos already viral on social media platforms show authorities discovering alcoholic beverages from a vehicle registered under RCC Construction. The construction company is a family business of former Defense Minister and Maldives National Party (MNP) Mohamed Nazim.
Nazim tweeted that he would cooperate fully with the police to investigate the case. Such illegal actions by an employee of the company or anyone else will not be accepted, he said.
