Police arrest 12 in Hulhumale' for alcohol consumption

Maldives Police Service, on Tuesday, arrested 12 individuals for consuming alcohol and partying.

The arrests were made at approximately 2000 hrs in a guest house in Hulhumale' during a joint operation conducted by the police and Special Operations (SO) officers.

The operation was conducted following intelligence received by the police. The individuals apprehended consist of 11 men and one woman.

According got the Police, Hulhumale Magistrate Court remanded certain individuals arrested on Wednesday.

From the 12 arrested, five of the men, ages, 25, 26, 27, 34 and 40 were remanded for a period of eight days. Another three men, aged 29, 30 and 39 were remanded for four days.

The 23-year-old female arrested in this case was remanded for four days as well.

Meanwhile, Police revealed that three men, aged, 34, 30 and 27 were released based on set conditions.

Further investigations into the matter are underway.
