Ruling People's National Congress (PNC) has rejected suspended State Minister at Tourism Ministry Mohamed Nihad's allegations that opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) plans to protest in Male' atoll resorts, and assured safety for tourists.
In last night's PNC rally, Nihad alleged that MDP is planning a terrorist attack at this time when the government is preparing to celebrate two million tourist arrivals.
Following his speech, he has now been suspended from his State Ministerial position.
In a statement released today rejecting Nihad's claims, PNC stated that they did not believe that either a political party or NGO would do anything to jeopardize tourism or negatively impact the economy.
They, however, asserted that action would be taken against any persons who act against the laws.
