The driver of the sports car involved in the collision with a motorcycle near Central Park in Hulhumale' during the early hours of Friday has been remanded in custody pending the outcome of his trial.
Mohamed Visam Siduqee, 26, a resident of Seenu atoll Hithadhoo was arrested in connection with the incident.
Police said last night that when Visam was brought before the court for a remand hearing, the court ordered to place him in custody pending the outcome of his trial.
Police said that they received reported about the incident at 2:48 am involving a speeding car colliding into a motorcycle.

Samah, a Prison Lance Corporal at Maldives Correctional Service, had come to Male' to participate in the TFG Marathon, which was held yesterday in Hulhumale'. The accident occurred after he had driven some friends to the marathon venue.
Samah was also preparing for his wedding next month when he passed away, according to close relatives.
Samah joined the Maldives Correctional Service in January 2021 and was serving at Maafushi Prison.
President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has directed authorities to amend laws and regulations to impose stricter punishments for speeding, following a fatal accident involving a speeding sports car.
Frequent concerns have been raised about speeding sports cars in Hulhumale' on weekends, posing risks to the public. The area near Central Park has seen previous incidents, including a fatal collision involving a motorcyclist, and a similar crash occurred in Hulhumale' Phase 2 last month.
