A 59-year-old man has been killed in a collision between a pickup truck and a motorcycle near the Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) flats in Hulhumalé phase 2, at around 10 a.m. on Monday morning, the Maldives Police Service has said.
The police are further investigating the incident.
The Hulhumalé Hospital said that he was already dead when he was brought to the hospital.
He was a long-time employee of Urbanco (formerly Hulhumalé Development Corporation). The company sent their condolences to his family.
Two people were injured in another accident in Hulhumalé last night. A 19-year-old man and a 56-year-old man were injured in the accident. The elderly man is in critical condition, according to the police.
The two are currently being treated at ADK Hospital.
The accident happened near the site of JMC, an Indian company constructing flats in the second phase of Hulhumalé, at around 1:20 a.m. last night, police said.
