The Maldives Meteorological Center (MET Office) forecasts deteriorating weather conditions in the Maldives.
According to the MET Office, due to the onset of the Northeast Monsoon on December 24, 2023, strong winds and rough seas are expected mostly in the northern and central atolls in the country.

The authority also forecasts heavy showers over some parts of the Maldives in the next 72 hours.
Due to the current rough sea conditions experienced nationwide, the authorities have urged the public to exercise caution during these times.
