The decision to withhold Aasandha coverage for individuals with private insurance until their insurance limit is reached has been reversed, reinstating dual insurance coverage.

In November last year, as part of Aasandha reforms, it was decided that individuals with private insurance would only be eligible for Aasandha once their private insurance package limit was fully utilized.

However, Aasandha Pvt Ltd has now revised this regulation, allowing both insurance policies to be used together.

A hospital official said that under the latest change, private insurance will be billed first for consultations, and any remaining costs will be covered by Aasandha. This adjustment will help reduce out-of-pocket expenses for patients.

Many people had previously voiced concerns that the previous policy required them to cover costs not included in their private insurance.

While Aasandha coverage remained available for hospital admissions, outpatients faced financial strain. Discussions are now underway to extend dual insurance coverage to other non-admitted treatment services as well.

Aasandha Pvt Ltd has yet to officially comment on the policy changes.
