Jauharee, 62 years of age at the time of death, was earlier a Maldivian Democratic Party activist. He was often seen with a camera, taking pictures of party rallies.
The body found floating at sea near Male' this evening has been identified as Ibrahim Jauharee of H. Velasfaruge.
After Police received reports of the incident at 17:06 hrs this evening, they attended the scene and the body was taken to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.

In addition to being involved in reform activities, Jauharee also took photos of various multi party activities during the time political parties were first introduced in the country.
He also previously worked as a court reporter for Minivan News.
Besides this, Jauharee was also a mechanic, known for repairing washine machines, motors and other equipment.
Jauharee is also the father of prominent lawyer Mariyam Shunana.
