Maldives Police Service, on Sunday, revealed that an investigation was underway over the vandalisation of public parks in Meedhoo, Addu Atoll.

According to Police, the damages to properties established by a civil society organisation, 'Nalafehi Meedhoo', were first discovered by officers during their routine patrol late Saturday.

A tweet in local Dhivehi language, condemning the perpetrators behind the vandalisation of Meedhoo's parks, for their "low" and "uncivilised" actions.

Notable areas that were vandalized included a park near the historically significant area of Koagannu Cemetery, as well as the swimming track.

The matter is under investigation by the Hulhumeedhoo Police Station.

The vandalisation also sparked outrage by the public, with many taking to social media to condemn the actions as low and uncivilised.
