The Prosecutor General's Office, on Wednesday, ordered the rearrest of the 30-year-old man accused of sexually assaulting three elderly women, after revising the Meedhoo Magistrate Court's decision to transfer him to house arrest.
The PG Office instructed the police to apprehend the man and detain him at a facility designated by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
The first incident, involving the rape of a 64-year-old woman, was reported to the police at approximately 1035 hours on May 28. Following his arrest on May 29, authorities discovered that the man had sexually assaulted two other women, aged 66 and 65, on the same day.
According to police, Meedhoo Magistrate Court placed the individual under house arrest on June 18 after his remand period expired.
Furthermore, the police revealed that the case was forwarded to the PG Office after completion of the investigation launched against the man.
