According to a post on social media by Immigration today, four women and three men were apprehended during a special operation carried out in collaboration with the police to identify expatriates engaged in prostitution.
Following further investigation, two women, a 38-year-old Ugandan and a 25-year-old Russian were deported and banned from returning to Maldives. Efforts are also underway to deport five additional expatriates, the post read.
Maldives Immigration has previously conducted similar operations, apprehending and deporting a number of expatriates involved in prostitution.
Till date, more than 5,000 people have been deported in ongoing operations to control illegal immigration.
