Police and the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) have held discussions today on the ongoing investigations into the allegations that land plots were granted to persons not on the Binveriya housing scheme recipients list.
The meeting was held at the Police Headquarters.
In a post on social media X today, Police said that the meeting was between Commissioner of Police Ali Shujau and members of the ACC.
ACC President Adam Shamil was also in attendance.
Both Police and ACC have commenced investigations into the matter.
Mohamed Fazeel Rasheed, brother of Housing Development Corporation (HDC) MD Ibrahim Fazul Rasheed, has a land registry in his name despite not being on the list of Binveriya scheme land plot recipients. It came to light yesterday that more registries have been made in a similar manner for a number of other individuals.
In this case, Police are investigating a case against Fazeel on charges of forgery.
The documents, which are being shared on social media, indicate that the documents are not legitimate. Housing Ministry has also confirmed that Fazeel did not receive land under the Binveriya housing scheme, further adding that the land still remains unallocated to any person.
