VP Hussain Mohamed Latheef reiterated Maldives' belief that China is a trusted ally.
China has always been a trusted ally of the Maldives, said Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef yesterday.
The Vice President is currently in China to attend the third meeting of the China-Indian Ocean Region Forum on Blue Economy Development Cooperation Forum.
According to the President's Office, the Vice President delivered a speech at the group meeting with Chinese government officials and the leaders of the countries participating in the forum.
The meeting was chaired by Wang Yong, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).
In his speech, the Vice President thanked the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA) and the Yunnan Provincial People's Government for their warmth and hospitality.
“In his speech, the Vice President noted that China has always been a trusted friend of the Maldives,” the President's Office said.
The Vice President also said Maldives' sustained commitment to the One-China principle is the main pillar of bilateral relations.
He also said that the third meeting of the China-Indian Ocean Region Forum on Blue Economy Development Cooperation, provided an important opportunity for cooperation and experience sharing between the two countries.
