Japanese ambassador calls on Foreign Secretary, State Minister

Ambassador of Japan to Maldives, Keiko Yanai, paid courtesy calls on Foreign Secretary Abdul Ghafoor Mohamed, and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ahmed Khaleel, on Monday.

According to the foreign ministry, Ambassador Yanai and Foreign Secretary Abdul Ghafoor exchanged views on further enhancing cooperation between Japan and Maldives across various sectors.

The ambassador also discussed revitalising the traditional and warm relations between the two nations, with State Minister Khaleel.

Yanai had presented her credentials to President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih earlier this month. The new ambassador had highlighted that Japan and Maldives celebrated 50 years of diplomatic relations in 2018, and asserted her commitment to strengthening friendly bilateral relations.
