Three detainees were injured in an assault that took place in Maafushi Prison on Sunday night.
Maldives Correctional Services announced that they have already informed the families of the detainees, and that none of the injuries were life threatening. They further stated that Maldives Police Service is currently investigating the issue.
Police spokesperson confirmed that an investigation was underway into a violent incident that occurred in Maafushi Prison about 1800 hours on Sunday.
It is rumored that a sharp object was used in the assault.
