Imran Khan, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, on Thursday accepted President-Elect Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s invitation to make an official visit to Maldives.
The Pakistani Prime Minister made a congratulatory phone call to Solih after he won the recent presidential election against incumbent President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom with a lead of more than 38,000 votes.
According to several Pakistani media outlets, the two leaders discussed diplomatic ties during the call, with Solih expressing his desire for improved relations between the two nations.
Prime Minister Khan expressed his hope that the citizens of Maldives would prosper under the presidency of Solih.
Several nations including Saudi Arabia, Russia, China, India and several European nations have congratulated Solih on his electoral victory. Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India has also invited the president-elect to make an official visit to India.
