With Malaysia introducing a six percent foreign student tax, the Higher Education Ministry has announced that they will be including the funds to cover this tax in student loans.
Malaysia has announced that a 6 percent tax will be charged from foreign students studying a course with a fee higher than MYR 60,000 at private colleges, universities, preschools and other education institutes.
The ministry said today that in the case of students currently studying on scholarships in Malaysia, arrangements will be made to issue funds once the tax is included in an invoice from the relevant educational institute.
Those studying on student loans can submit forms requesting coverage for the taxes added to course fees. The funds will then be included in their loans.
