Higher Education Ministry has said that efforts are underway to arrange tax funds for Maldivian studying in Malaysia following the country's announcement that a tax will be charged from foreigners studying in the country.
Malaysia has announced that a 6 percent tax will be charged from foreign students studying a course with a fee higher than MYR 60,000 at private colleges, universities, preschools and other education institutes.
Higher Education Ministry said that funds are being disbursed to students in Malaysia and elsewhere under the set policies.
They said in a post on X that once this new tax is included in students' invoices, it too will be paid.
