MDP also decides to not vote in favour of granting parliament approval to four members of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu's cabinet.
Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has concluded its parliamentary group meeting and announced that it will not be voting in favour of approving four members of the cabinet.
These four members are Attorney General Ahmed Usham, Minister of Housing, Land and Urban Development Dr Ali Haidar, Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed and Minister of Economic Development and Trade Mohamed Saeed.
The Democrats have also said they will not be voting to approve four members of the cabinet. Their list, however, does not include Saeed, instead listing Minister of Foreign Affairs Moosa Zameer.
The two parties have reservations against, but are as of yet undecided on whether to approve, Minister of Tourism Ibrahim Faisal and Minister of Cities, Local Government and Public Works Adam Shareef Umar.
Voting on the matter is scheduled to be at 13:30 hrs this afternoon.
