The Democrats have decided that they will not vote in favour of granting parliamentary approval to four members of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu's cabinet.

These four members are Attorney General Ahmed Usham, Minister of Housing, Land and Urban Development Dr Ali Haidar, Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed and Minister of Foreign Affairs Moosa Zameer.

Referring to information received from a member of The Democrats, Mihaaru News further reports that while the party has reservations regarding some other cabinet ministers as well, a decision on whether or not to vote in favour of their approval has not been reached yet.

Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) is also currently holding a parliamentary group meeting to decide on the matter of granting parliamentary approval to ministers.

As heard in today's debate, many members of MDP, too, lean towards denying approval for some cabinet members.

Voting on the matter is scheduled to be held at 13:30 hrs this afternoon.
