Parts of Velana International Airport (VIA) to be temporarily closed on Wednesday as Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina is visiting Maldives.
Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) said part of the international terminal will be closed from 12 pm to 4 pm. The lagoon area near the closed off space will be inaccessible via sea vessels during this period as well.
Only the northern harbour will be usable during this period.
Additionally no vehicles will be allowed on the airport terminal area during 2 pm and 4 pm as well.
According to MACL vehicles attempting to enter the airport from the northern area of the international terminal will be refused as per police instruction. Pedestrians will not be allowed entry during this period as well.
MTCC buses will stop at the western parking zone during this period.
Sheikh Hasina will address the Parliament on her trip to Maldives. The two day trip will consist of various agreements between the two nations being signed.
