The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on Wednesday, granted a plot in the Hulhumale Diplomatic Enclave to the Chinese Embassy.
Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid handed over the written confirmation of the allocation to Chinese Ambassador Zhang Lizhong.
The foreign ministry previously revealed that only countries which released land plots within their territory would be allocated space from the Diplomatic Enclave.
The government first allocated land from the enclave to India. Land plots were also granted to Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
The Diplomatic Enclave is located in the reclaimed suburb of Hulhumale' in order to alleviate congestion in Male' and to conveniently facilitate security measures for embassies located within close proximity to each other.
