The suspension of the two Civil Service Commission (CSC) staff members accused of spying on other employees at the commission has been further extended.
The issue came to light last month when a complaint was submitted to Parliament accusing CSC President Mohamed Nasih of spying on employees. In the ensuing review of the matter by the Parliament's committee, Nasih claimed that he had only learned of the spying only after being sent a letter from Parliament relating to the issue.
The Commission's IT Department Head and a consultant were suspended on allegations of installing a software to spy on employees.
Nasih said that the two had initially been suspended for a period of one month on November 20. As the investigation has not been concluded within this time, the suspension has been extended by an additional month, he said.
This time, the suspension terms have been changed so that the two will not be receiving salaries.
A source told Mihaaru News earlier that the software in question had been purchased in the guise of one being used to protect from attacks against the commission's Viuga platform.
"This software allows recording of work conducted by employees on the system. When staff access internet banking on their own systems, then the passwords for that is also visible to IT who holds software admin rights. They will also get the passwords for employees' personal social media accounts," they said.
