Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation has announced it will resume the sale of domain numbers in November.
The sale of domain numbers, previously conducted at high prices through a bidding process, was halted by the previous administration in August 2023.
In a statement, the Transport Ministry indicated that it will amend current rules and regulations before the service restarts.
The ministry also plans to enhance security by converting related documents into those with security features. The objective is to address legal issues surrounding domain services and improve service accessibility, the ministry said.
“The ministry is working to resume domain services by November and begin resolving the issues which arose,” the statement read.
The ministry further assured that the resumption of sales will respect individuals’ rights.
Transport Minister Mohamed Ameen had earlier said that of the 1,200 domain numbers issued before the halt, 50 percent had encountered issues.
