Immigration has initiated monitoring of public areas following an increase in incidents of fights among foreigners.

In a post on X, Immigration stated that officers from its Enforcement and Compliance Division are patrolling public spaces due to "recent violations of public interest among expatriates gathering there."

The initiative aims to prevent actions that could disrupt public peace and safety.

Immigration also noted that if any illegal immigrants are identified during the monitoring, the task force will take appropriate action against them.

This move follows consecutive fights involving foreign nationals at Artificial Beach in Male' City over the past two Fridays. Last week, three foreign nationals were arrested in connection with an altercation and are in the process of being deported, Immigration said.
