A 55-year-old Argentinian tourist who was struck by a speedboat while swimming near a resort in Alifu Dhaalu atoll has passed away today.
According to police, the speedboat involved in the incident belonged to Icom Green, and the accident was reported around 10 a.m.
Videos circulating on social media show the extent of the injuries sustained by the victim, with parts of his arm and face severed due to the collision.
Authorities have stated that the incident is under investigation.
This marks another fatal accident in the region, as a similar incident occurred last year when a foreigner lost their life after being hit by a speedboat while swimming near an island in Alifu Dhaalu atoll.
