Eight ambulances donated by the Japanese government to the Maldives, have been distributed to six health facilities across the country.
The Ministry of Health announced that the ambulances were allocated to Haa Alif atoll Hoarafushi Health Centre, Haa Alif atoll Kelaa Health Centre, Haa Dhaal atoll Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital, Laamu atoll Gan Regional Hospital, Fuvahmulah Hospital, and Addu Equatorial Hospital. These ambulances are expected to strengthen the emergency response and treatment capabilities of these healthcare facilities.
The two remaining ambulances were allocated to the National Ambulance Service in Hulhumalé.
The ambulances are equipped with 8 sets of 12 different medical equipment, including advanced life support bags, an oxygen cylinder, bag valve mask, and spinal boards.
According to the Ministry, these ambulances will enhance the quality of services and care offered by health facilities during emergencies and disasters.
