NSPA is looking for a new office space and bids are opened by the Ministry of Finance.
Finance Ministry today issued an announcement for the second time, seeking a building for National Social Protection Agency (NSPA)'s operations.
The ministry said the building would be required for a period of five years and that tenders are now open. Applicants would be required to submit a bid security of MVR 252,000, and the deadline to submit bids is 16th February at 13:00 hrs. Opening of the bids will start the following day.
The ministry's announcement comes after NSPA made an announcement in June last year seeking a building space to operate out of. At the time, three floors were leased from a building owned by former minister Ahmed Thasmeen Ali's family. However, these three floors were among the floors rented by MMTV's Maldives Media House.
The decision came under public scrutiny after the NSPA tender board decided to lease the floors despite Maldives Media House being the only party to submit applications in response to the ministry's tender board announcement.
It was decided to award the lease from last August onwards for a total rent amount of MVR 34.8 million.
However, the agreement was canceled after heavy criticism.
NSPA is currently operating from Mookai Suites. However, NSPA had earlier said that the building was in bad condition and needed repairs. At the time, the agency said they needed to vacate the premises in December.
