Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef expressed his hope that the government’s policy to reduce Hajj costs will materialize following decisions made at the "Hajj Umrah Conference" held today.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the first Hajj and Umrah Conference 2024 at the Islamic Centre this morning, Vice President Hussain shared his confidence in the expansion and enhancement of Hajj and Umrah services, with the aim of establishing a comprehensive system for the pilgrimages.

VP Hussain said the conference will generate ideas to safeguard pilgrims’ funds and further develop the Hajj fund.

He said that the focus should be on the spiritual rewards of Hajj and Umrah, rather than profit.

VP Hussain said that hosting the Maldives' first Hajj and Umrah conference reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening pilgrimage services.

He also affirmed that time spent supporting pilgrims is a valuable investment and pledged the government’s full support to service providers.

“The companies providing these services should prioritize the spiritual rewards over business,” he said, highlighting President Dr Mohamed Muizzu's committed to ensuring high-quality services for Hajj and Umrah pilgrims.

The conference will feature panel discussions and keynote speakers on Hajj and Umrah, with participation from various institutional representatives and religious scholars.
