Charges have been pressed against three individuals accused of luring a person into premises, and then proceeding to strip and rob them.

The three against whom charges were pressed are Aishath, 43, of Ma. Masfan, Male', Mohamed Reehan, 27, of the same house and Shafeeq Ibrahim, 35, of Soma, Seenu atoll Hithadhoo. All three are being held in custody until the end of trial.

The Prosecutor General's Office said today that they had submitted charges against the three to the Criminal Court on September 23.

The three are accused of convincing a man on the road outside Ma. Masfange on Dhilbahaaru Magu to enter the house last July, where they then stripped him and stole from him.

The three are being charged on intentionally attempting to obtain information through wrongful means, assault, and robbery.

Police have earlier said in court that it is believed the victim had been taken into Masfange by a woman. Once he entered, two men had held him down and threatened him with a knife. They stripped him and took away his phone. He was further forced to send MVR 20,000 from his account to an account they specified, as well as the perpetrators using his cash card to withdraw MVR 25,000 from an ATM.

The court order also highlighted that the residence, Ma. Masfange, had come to their notice earlier as well for having a record of being used to lure people into, where they are threatened.
