The government has today assured that there is no present cause for concern in regards to the joint MNDF and Police Counter-terrrorism Operation commenced in the Greater Male' Area last night.
Police and MNDF began the operation last night, under which several premises in Male' and Hulhumale', as well as vehicles, were searched. Police have said that three persons have been arrested in relation to this operation so far.
Although the operation is still ongoing, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has released a statement assuring there is no present concern, stating that such operations are routinely conducted as preventive measures to ensure safety and security.
"The Government assures its commitment to upholding the safety and assuring the protection of all residing in the country. The authorities will continue to monitor and take swift action on any information on threats received, to ensure that the Maldives remains a safe, secure and peaceful destination for its residents, and visitors," the statement reads.
No further information has been released regarding this operation as of yet.
