Redwave Saleem and son secured tickets to contend in the Parliamentary Elections

Redwave Saleem has secured tickets for the Parliamentary Elections without a Primary while his son, Naufal, won in the Primaries held yesterday, acquiring tickets for the Mulah constituency seat.

Eydhafushi constituency member, Ahmed Saleem (Redwave Saleem) and his son, Ibrahim Naufal have decided to contend in the People’s Parliament elections scheduled to be held in March.

PPM (Progressive Party of Maldives)’s Parliamentary Group leader, Saleem, had secured PPM/PNC (People’s National Congress) tickets without a primary. His son, Naufal, acquired his ticket for the Meemu Atoll Mulah constituency during the primaries held yesterday within this coalition.

In addition to Saleem and Naufal, their coworker Ibrahim Shujau also contended for the Haa Alif Baarashu constituency member and secured the tickets without a primary.

Tickets were confirmed for 13 members without the need for a Primary due to being the sole candidate in their constituencies, including one female candidate. The Primaries had 283 candidates contesting in 73 constituencies. Out of these 283 candidates, 32 were women. However, the results showed than only 1 female candidate had succeeded the primaries. The winning candidate is Maafannu Central constituency's Asma Rasheed, who had previously served in the same constituency for the 18th Parliament.

While Mohamed Ismail succeeded the Hoarafushi constituency, Ibrahim Falah who was MP for the area in the 18th Parliament had secured tickets in the Inguraidhoo constituency. Former Dhidhdhoo constituency representative, Abdul Latheef Mohamed went onto confirm tickets for the elections in his constituency.

Former Maafannu South Constituency member, Abdulla Rifaau had succeeded the tickets for his contituency while Henveyru North constituency ticket went to Male' City Council member, Ahmed Aifan. Thinadhoo North Constituency was secured by former member, Saudhulla Hilmy.

Tickets for the Milandhoo constituency was acquired by their former MP, Hassan Mufeed, while Ibrahim Naseem secured the Thulusdhoo constituency ticket.
