US President Donald Trump said on Sunday he needs to make a decision regarding the conflict with Iran: either "finish it off" or strike a deal.
"I have a decision to make: Do I finish it off, which would be very easy to do, or do I make a deal?" Trump told Fox News.
The Wall Street Journal reported on Saturday, citing unnamed US officials, that Trump was leaning toward resuming military action against Iran, though no final decision had been made.
Trump himself has said the United States would not attack Iran before the midterm congressional elections scheduled for November 3.
On February 28, the United States and Israel began striking targets in Iran, prompting retaliation from the Islamic Republic. In mid-June, Tehran and Washington signed a memorandum aimed at a cessation of hostilities, but shortly afterward, they exchanged strikes again. At present, the conflict remains unresolved.
