The rights holders of songs by the American singer Elvis Presley have filed a lawsuit against Anthropic, accusing the company of using the musician’s compositions to train artificial intelligence, according to the legal complaint.
Plaintiffs bring this action to protect their exclusive rights against a defendant that has built its entire business model on copyright infringement on a scale never before seen, the complaint says.
The plaintiffs allege that Claude, a chatbot developed by Anthropic, used the musician's songs to train its AI model. These compositions include "Can't Help Falling in Love," "A Little Less Conversation," "Don't Be Cruel," and "Return to Sender."
The lawsuit was filed in the US District Court for the Northern District of California. Representatives for the defendant have not yet commented on the matter.
