The United States could take over Iran entirely, including all of its oil, US President Donald Trump said on Friday.

"We could take the whole country. We could take all of the oil. And as you know, the Hormuz Strait is totally ours," Trump told reporters.

Feda Hossein Maleki, a member of the Iranian parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, told RIA Novosti that Iran is monitoring US activities in the Middle East and is prepared to employ new tactics for retaliatory operations should the US military resume hostilities against the Islamic Republic.

On February 28, the United States and Israel began striking targets in Iran, prompting retaliation from Iran. In mid-June, Tehran and Washington signed a memorandum aimed at a cessation of hostilities, but shortly afterward, they exchanged strikes again. At present, the conflict remains unresolved.
