Iraq has closed the Al-Sheeb border crossing with Iran until further notice, a regional government source in Iraq's southeastern Maysan governorate told the Shafaq News agency on Wednesday.

The crossing has been closed since 6:00 a.m. local time (02:30 GMT) on Wednesday due to technical reasons, the source was cited by the agency as saying, providing no further details.

In September, Iraqi authorities temporarily closed border crossings with Iran in order to review security and administrative procedures.
