Excessive US demands are hindering progress toward a deal between Tehran and Washington, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei said on Tuesday.
"Excessive demands," Baqaei told reporters at a briefing, when asked what was hampering progress toward an agreement between Iran and the US.
The message Tehran received from Washington is "insufficient and incomplete," the spokesman said. Iran continues to proceed from the previously stated seven conditions, including the lifting of naval blockade and the cessation of hostilities on all fronts, regarding the settlement of the crisis in the Strait of Hormuz and the conflict with the US, Baqaei said.
On February 28, the United States and Israel began striking targets in Iran, prompting retaliation from Iran. In mid-June, Tehran and Washington signed a memorandum aimed at a cessation of hostilities, but shortly afterward, they exchanged strikes again. At present, the conflict remains unresolved.
