US President Donald Trump said on Friday he had told new White House Press Secretary Katie Zacharia to consider changing her job.
"I said to her, if I were you, I'd reconsider," Trump told reporters.
He then said that Zacharia is a good person who has suffered pressure from the press.
"It's not an easy job, and I think she was really treated very unfairly," Trump continued.
The president also noted that there are a lot of people who would like to work as the White House press secretary.
Zacharia held her first media briefing on Tuesday, which lasted about 14 minutes. During the speech, she appeared noticeably nervous. CNN reported, citing sources, that several White House officials subsequently questioned how long Zacharia would remain in the role, adding that her performance was unlikely to have satisfied the president.
