At least 51 people were killed during violent anti-corruption protests in Nepal this week, police said Friday in an updated toll, as the full scale of chaos that toppled the government emerges.
Protesters set alight a fire inside the premises of Singha Durbar, the main administrative building of the Nepal government, in Kathmandu on September 9, 2025, a day after a police crackdown on demonstrations over social media prohibitions and corruption by the government. Nepal's president called for national unity on September 9, after two days of violent protests, including rallies against a government ban on social media that forced the prime minister to resign and left at least 19 people dead.
